The game started with a classic.Game Informer said recently, it is the best game of all times. It was simply called The Legend Of Zelda" for the Nintendo Entertainment system.
ahead of its time by years if not decades
Ocarina of Time
One of the first 3-D games. It developed systems like locking-on. IGN says it was "Masterful". Some belive, like IGN, that it may be overrated. (See: http://retro.ign.com/articles/953/953318p1.html )
It is certainly one of my faves for the N64. It got so many pre-orders, that some retailers stopped offer it. (See: http://ign64.ign.com/articles/065/065566p1.html )
The Legend of Zelda: Collectors Edition
It came with the Gamecube for a period of time as a promotion, I was lucky enough to get it.
It's great, now I don't have to use Wii Virtual Console for those specific games :D.
It also included a demo of Wind Waker, to piss you off probably.
The Puzzles
One of the key elements of the Zelda series are the puzzles. Some are easy, to some just plain hard, to others almost illogical. They are usually logical though.
I'm not giving any examples of the puzzle answers.
The Action
Fighting! What's a Fantasy game without violence?
Many, many weapons. From Bows to boomerangs to bombs! Amazing how some of the puzzles also have an intense/action feel to them. Maybe you could also include stealth! In the beginning, you get a ghetto sword and shield. (wood)
Innovational, genius, difficult, life thief, overrated, a waste of time. Whatever you wish to call the Legend of Zelda series, they're here to stay. Especially knowing Nintendo. (I'll make this my next blog post hehehehehe)
